THE BEST MOVIE I’VE SEEN IN A LONG TIME Before it hit the big screen the hype reached colossal heights. People everywhere were talking about it and wondering just how good it would be. People bought tickets days before it opened while others waited in ticket lines for hours. No movie had as much anticipation as The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers. When it finally did open in theatres on December 18th 2002, it broke box office records in ticket sales garnering an estimated $42 million one-day worldwide gross. But was the movie really that good? In the following, I will tell you why The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers was just as good, if not better, than all the hype predicted. Taken from the book by J.R.R. Tolkein, The Two Towers continues where the first Lord of the Rings movie left off. Sam and Frodo are on the path to the dark castle of Sauron to destroy the magical but evil ring that they posses. Aragorn, Gimli, and Legolis search endlessly for Pippin and Merry, two hobbits that have been captured by evil orcs. While the plot unfolds before our eyes, we see an amazing amount of special effects that director Peter Jackson and his crew incorporated into the movie. We see vast armies of elves, humans, and orcs battling on an epic scale. There are literally thousands of characters on the screen at one time, each having their own movements and personalities. Whether it be an elf, human, or orc; they all fight and die differently than the previous. Another great example of the special effects that were put into this movie are the Ents.
