Economic Problems In the years following the 2nd world war, the Philippines was deemed by countries around the world and more so by its Asian neighbors to be the ideal country in terms of politics, economy, education and all-around wholesomeness of what a democracy is all about. Scholars and economists alike principally from Asian countries were flocking to the Philippines to learn and absorb all the good things that the Philippines has to offer. In a manner of speaking the Philippines was held to be the best example of what a democratic country is, especially in the field of economics. Crime was very minimal because people then were still mostly law-abiding citizens. And then again, money was not as tight and the Philippine peso at that time was almost at part with the United States dollars at 2pesos = $1. The 2nd world war was folowed by the Korean conflict in which by this time, the Philippines was still the dominant figure in the realm of good governance.
