The effects of the war in Iraq were felt all over the world. ... Secondly, the fact that Jean Critien did not believe that the war was justified because of the lack of information and support from the United Nations. Finally, the fact that other countries such as France and China did not feel that there was enough proof was reason enough for Canada to stay out of the war. ... When the United States were planning to go to war with Iraq, they were looking for support all over the world for their own personal benefit. When the question came to Canadians, “do you support the war in Iraq?” An overwhelming number of the population was totally against the idea of going to war with the United States. ... To go against the population would almost definitely spell the end of his political career, but the decision to not fight in the war would make for bad relations with out “big brother” next store, the United States.
