The Odyssey, written by Homer, is the story of Odysseus and how he faced misfortune in his attempts to return home after the Trojan War. Odysseus is the epic hero of the Odyssey. We see him play not only a hero but also a husband and a father. He takes on the very human roles of athlete, warrior, sailor, storyteller, and lover. Penelope, one of the main characters, is the beautiful wife of Odysseus. Her faithfulness to her fusband remains still, and she even shares his proclivity for trickery, promising to remarry once she has finished weaving a shroud for Laertes, but unraveling it each night, which the suitors catch on after a few years. Telemachus is Odysseus' only son. He is a boy who is afraid to challenge the suitors at the begging of th emovie but by the end, he is an assured, mature young man ready to take on the suitors.
