Hitlers Rise to Power in Germany
One of the most documented, scrutinized, and debated periods in the entire history of mankind, is the short-lived dictatorship of Adolf Hitler in Nazi Germany. Perhaps an equally, if not more important sequence of events that forever altered the course of twentieth century history are the events that eventually led to Adolf Hitler becoming Chancellor, and soon afterward, Führer of Nazi Germany. ... Germany’s authoritarian past, the fallacy of a strong democratic government in the Weimar era, the political climate of Europe at the time, and the economic crisis of 1929 are just some of the innumerable factors that led to the Nazi party’s rise and to Hitler’s eventual appointment to chancellor. However, the two biggest factors that led to Adolf Hitler becoming dictator of Germany in 1933 were the amazing political genius of Hitler, and the sheer stupidity, lack of foresight, and selfishness of the last Weimar leaders. Adolf Hitler lived a fairly tumultuous life before becoming the leader of an up-and-coming political party in the early 1920’s, in Germany, known as the National Socialist German Worker’s Party. ... In 1913, Hitler moved to Munich, Germany and was quick to enlist in the German army, as he had been raised to believe in the national German tendencies, he felt himself to be a true German. ... Hitler and his fellow Nazi supporters tried to rally all of the right-wingers in Southern Germany, after which they would then push on to Berlin. ... Hitler’s time in jail proved to be a turning point in his quest for power. ... In it, he explained his motives and outlined the tactics he planed to use to regain power. ... He also realized that in order to drum-up support for the Nazi party and get into a position of power, he must do so through legal, parliamentary means. ... Normalcy had returned to life in Germany. Thanks to major loans from the United States, the German economy appeared to have righted itself and in the eyes of the German people, the democratic government was doing all the right things to return Germany to a powerful nation.
