What People Want From Work There are many theories about what people really want from work. Many of the theories state that money is a good incentive but it is not the main motivator. Some theories believe that aspects like job security, job satisfaction are more important to the employee than money. According to the article printed by Susan M. Heathfield management specialist in human resources, the bottom line is money. Money is the main motivator for employees. Money provides the basic needs for the employee. Needs are more than food and shelter, they are education for kids, social activities and retirement. All these needs are mentioned in chapter 5 in the organizational behavior text book. According to Maslow’s Needs Hierarchy, human needs are physiology, security, affiliation, esteem and self actualization.
