I'd say the Bennets are an example of an unsuccessful marriage and Elizabeth• and Darcy and Jane and Bingley are examples of good marriages, based on the happiness of the couple. but it would be interesting to write about Charlotte's marriage. she's not in love with the guy but she's content, becaboth women and men in austen's time would consider more than just money when• choosing a spouse. from austen's writing it is clear that money was an important factor and that she personally disapproved of this - see p & p wickham, lucy in sense and sensibility, mary crawford and maria bertram in mansfield park and many others all get their come-uppance. however rank is also important.
