In today’s society young people tend to look at the wrong things that seem to influence their lives. In today’s society entertainment has a huge effect on people, especially teenagers. The entertainment industry targets the teenagers. Entertainment that effects teenagers today are advertisements, music, and television. Advertisements are everywhere. Teenagers are highly pressures with the media’s impression of “cool.” Today teenagers are exposed with all sorts of pressure through advertisements. For example teenagers are overexposed to Beer ads. “The report says that 24.5% of the advertising time bought by alcohol companies was scheduled in programming more likely to be seen by youngsters than adults.” (Advertising Educational Foundation.) Advertisements make alcohol look “cool” so many teenagers decide to get into the drug and alcohol scene. Advertisers target teenagers. If you pick up a fashion magazine and look inside of it, how often do you see fat, ugly people? Never. The media puts this pressure on young girls to have this “perfect image.” Leading many girls to having eating disorders. The fashion magazines make young girls feel insecure, then they try everything they can to pull of an image that is not them. The industry knows that teenagers are at that point in life where they are most insecure, and easily influenced.
