Once upon a time Strategy is defined as all the things necessary for the successfully functioning of an organization as an adaptive mechanism. Strategy is an organizational “game-plan” to gain sustained competitive advantage over other firms in order to achieve an organizational goal such profit, market leadership or market penetration. Strategy is not just limited to organizations but it is found in many aspects of life: the chess player has a strategy to beat their opponent; the soccer team has a strategy to score a goal; and for centuries militaries have had battle strategies. Strategies are not static but are a processes that change to ensure they are most effective.
