Slavery existed in ancient Greece, Rome, Africa and other societies. The reasons for slavery in the ancient world are divergent from the reasons for slavery in the new world. The practice of slavery was different and the treatment of slaves was different in the ancient world. Slavery in the ancient world brought about slavery in the new world. Over the ten thousand years that slavery has existed, slavery has gone through an evolution of sorts. ... Slavery has left its scar on the ancestors of slave traders and the descendants of slaves.
