I still remember that chilly night of April 11 like it was yesterday. The morning had started out as usual. My father had left for work and my older sister was left to watch me and Maggie because my mother had been ill lately. I did not know what was wrong with her but it had seemed like she had been in bed for weeks. I did not know much about my father but my older sister told me that he worked hard in the forest. His name was John Meagher and my mother used to tell me stories about him when he lived in Ireland. That morning me and Maggie had planned to go play outside in the snow, making snow angels and picking berries. It was about 9:30 in the morning. We looked for our sister to tell her that we were leaving, but we could not find her. We did not want to wake up mother since it was not that important, we would be back in a few hours, so we decided to go anyway. I ran up to my room that I shared with Maggie to grab Teddy. My mother had given me Teddy when I was only a year old. I brought him everywhere. “Come on Maggie! Let’s go!” I yelled “I’m coming!” She rushed towards me. She looked at me then glanced longingly at Teddy. “No! You can’t have him.” “Please, please, please! Pretty please! With a cherry on top!” She pleaded. “No! Now let’s go!” We rushed out the door and the chilly breeze hit us like a slap on the face. “Maggie, I’m cold! I’m going back inside!” I yelled, hoping she would follow me. “Nooooo, I wanna play.” She whined Before I could say anything she started to run towards the woods down the hill from our house, looking back at me. All of the sudden I heard a thump. “Maggie! Are you okay?” I yelled. I ran to see what had happened. “Ouch. I guess the tree didn’t see me running towards it.” I laughed. “You’re so stupid” “I want teddy, my dress ripped!” She pouted, noticing the tear in her dress, she picked up the scrap of fabric of the ground. “No cause you’ll hurt him.” I replied, “Fine! I’m going to tell Mommy!” She yelled as she threw the scrap of fabric and ran off deeper into the woods. Before I know it, I could not see her anymore. I ran after her screaming “Maggie, come back right not or else I’m telling Mommy on you!” I could slightly see her running far and fast. I tried to catch up with her. All of a sudden she stopped. “ I knew you would give up, you little baby!” “I want to go hooooome Janie!” Maggie whined.
