Lady Macbeth demonstrates her aggressive, assertive side when she is informed of Duncan’s arrival. She views the situation as an open opportunity to pass over her “mediocre” lifestyle. Lady Macbeth would go to any extent to get what she wants. Lady Macbeth takes all accountability by setting up the scene and planning the murder of Duncan. “Go, get some water and wash this bloody evidence from your hands. Why did you bring these daggers from Duncan’s room? They must remain there. Go take them back and smear the sleeping guards with Duncan’s blood. They must lie there. Go carry them, and smear The sleepy grooms with blood. “(II, ii, 45-49). Lady Macbeth has no remorse whereas Macbeth shows great guilt. She is left to clean up the murder scene herself. She acts reckless and careless about the crime she has designed. She loudly demands that Macbeth wash his hands and continues to speak with no worry or concern.
