Until I read this passage, I always took the theory of plate-tectonics as gospel truth. Not once in years of science classes did I ever read a dissenting argument. I assumed that the theory could explain nearly everything about geology. Well, Anita Harris has won a convert. Although I know very little about geology, her points made sense to me (perhaps they made sense because I have little else in the way of experience to go on, I don’t know). I always enjoyed studying the plate-tectonics theory in school. It’s really interesting to think about the way the world looked hundreds of millions of years ago, when you could just walk from North America, to Europe, to Africa. Predicting what the Earth will look like 50 million years from now is just as fascinating (Will Hollywood still be the glamour capital of the world if it’s in Alaska?).
