Chan is Missing is about the search for an older Chinese immigrant Chan who no one can find. Joe and his nephew Steve decide to look for Chan because he owes them money and Joe is genuinely worried about his friend. Along their search they visit his favorite places, family, and friends, and after each encounter they learn something new about Chan. No two people could describe Chan in the same matter and everyone has theories as to why he is missing or as some thought left on his own. ...
Chan was searching for an identity of his own. None of the identities of Chan corresponded; it was if he was multiple people living in one body. It is interesting that Joe knew Chan as a friend for many years, yet he did not know that he went to the senior home to entertain often.
