Rationale Hybrid identities are emerging amongst second-generation ethnic minority students at Richmond Upon Thames College. England is a very diverse and multi-cultural country. Many people from other cultures are immigrating and being born in England everyday, but are people mixing British culture with their ethnic culture to form a dual identity? This is a common subject matter with second-generation Ethnic minorities who may feel they belong to two or more cultures. With increasing diversity in Britain the second-generation ethnic minorities have the question arising in their mind, do I have a two-culture identity? This is sociologically known as a hybrid identity. A Hybrid identity is the incorporated elements of two or more cultures bought together into one other culture to give a mix of cultures together to form one other culture, e.g.: British-Asian, Black-British culture.
