TEARS OF THE SUN Conscience was presented in the film through displaying how important it is to humanity. The rebel groups absolutely had no conscience because if they did have what could have motivated them to slaughter and massacre their own people? Having a conscience would have stopped them from doing such horrible and unjust acts. Lt. Waters also displayed a kind of person who had a good conscience because without his conscience the African people would be left there to die and the Prince would have been surrendered to his enemies. He did the right thing and followed the dictates of his conscience because he followed the orders from up above and not from a mere General.
