My thoughts and feelings throughout the story ranged from happy feelings, to times when I was very upset or disturbed about what was going on. At the very beginning of the story I was disgusted when they were showing Dunbar in the hospital like tent. When Dunbar makes his own decision to stay at the fort it reminded me of a character from Darkwind who made many choice on there own no matter what the outcome may be. The first time I really got angry in the story was when Timmons was killed by the Pawnee. You can look at this as an example of precognitive commitment because the Indians learned to kill whites. So every time they saw one they would try to kill them instantly, they wouldn’t even think about it. One thing that surprised me and made me learn something about the Indian culture was when one of the Sioux took Dances with Wolves hat and was refusing just to give it back.
