You are planning to export your products or services to an Asian country.
What type of information would you like to have in order to carry out your
plan? What type of difficulties do you expect to encounter in selling in
Asia?
Answer:
Business success in the rapidly growing Asian marketplace depends on certain
factors, but none is more important than first to remember that although many of these
countries may have exotic cultures, the people are not naïve. Thats why companies
looking to enter the Asian marketplace go in smartly and slowly, learning whom to deal
with, what permits are necessary, and where the best locations are, before significant
resources are committed. ... The best way to hedge against unforeseen
difficulties when entering any of these potentially lucrative Asian markets is to partner
with a trusted local company. ...
Bellow we will analyze the information that has to be considered as well as the
difficulties that most probably will occur during an exporting endeavor.
The information required to export to Asian countries is :
The exporter has to define on which country or countries he should focus on. ... For example, northeast Asian countries (Japan, Korea,
China, Taiwan) are considered to be the "Role Model" for southeast Asian countries
(Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Brunei, Singapore). Besides the important
differences between Asian countries according to their geographical location, there are
also common characteristics between them that differ significantly from the non-Asian
markets. For example it has been proven that in order to succeed in Asian countries,
exporters will have to be willing to customize their products because otherwise people in
Asia will not buy them. ... And let us not forget the fact that Asian people have passion for
quality, since they are willing to pay unbelievably high prices for superior quality. ... The lack of cultural
uniformity between Asian countries is a factor that the exporter has to analyze very
carefully, since the differences are huge, for example the Japanese culture is similar to the
British culture, while Koreans are considered to be the Latinos of Asia. Also Confucians

teaching has to be considered since it has greatly influenced the behavioral patterns of the
majority of the Asian people.
The exporter has to have information concerning existing behavior, traditions,
and habits as well as possible behavioral and habitual changes.
