The illusiveness of the answer to causation of crime has brought about a wide variety of speculations and philosophies. The most prevalent philosophies surrounding the causes of crime are physical and social in nature. Even though neither has deemed itself a clear answer to the causation of crime, each idea has its own unique philosophy and correlation to crime. ... As a society, we tend to formulate our own opinions on why crimes are committed; however, many scientists have done much research into the causes of crime. ... The earliest theories on crime causation are based on biological theories. ... Even though the outlooks and opinions of the men and women that have studied the sociological causes of crime are wide spread, their studies are based on the same fundamental principals. ... In other words, legal means may or may not be available and the same is true for illegal means, now this is a direct factor in the amount and type of crime that occurs (Schmalleger, 2003). ...
