Before looking at how exactly Maslow’s Hierarchy has anything to do with the movie, we must first look at the essential basis of what Maslow’s Hierarchy is. ... It is obvious that our heroes in the movie Alive were deprived of many physiological needs when they were stranded in the arctic sea of snow and death. ... In Alive, they don’t exactly have the Peace Corps to join, or a monastery, but group-prayers form and although one of the survivors did not partake in this activity, by the end of the movie, he too was joining in on the Hail Mary.
In the end, the entire movie is a wonderful example of how a healthy group of Rugby players can be put to the end of their lives psychologically and physically, and although some parts of the film were perhaps made to have Hollywood appreciate it, the sole integrity of the movie was true.
