Abstract The aim of this study was to see whether Asch’s line study could be supported , he found that 33% of participants conformed to the confederates even when the answer was obvious. The task presented by this study was an unambiguous one and was the same used by Asch, this was to observe which line out of three was the same as line X. The specific aim was to observe whether the presence of maths students will encourage more participants to conform than when there are no maths students present, when presented with a maths problem.
