Self-Heal is also known as Prunella Vulgaris. It is a small, low creeping herb with many round pointed leaves. It is extremely variable in its form of leaves, in hairiness, and in its color. Though you will usually find it a purplish-blue color. It can reach heights of up to two feet. It may at once be distinguished from other members of its order because on the top of its flowering stalks, the flowers are thick set together like an ear. No other plant is at all like it. Immediately below this ear is a pair of leaves standing out on either side like a collar. The flowers and are arranged in most regular tiers or whorls, each tier composed of a ring of six flowers, supported by a couple of spreading bracts.
