FRIDA Frida is an interesting film about Mexican painter Frida Kahlo directed by Julie Taymor. Salma Hayek and Alfred Molina perform similar magic on the characters of Kahlo and her partner, Diego Rivera. Added to the splendid acting is a wonderful score by Elliot Goldenthal and beautiful cinematography. It all makes for a fascinating portrait of a troubled artist. Essentially it is the story of one woman´s impossible resilience, Frida combines art, politics and personalities in a post- revolution Mexico of the 1920s and 1930s. Partially disabled as a child by polio in her right leg, Kahlo was then the victim of a grisly trolley bus accident when she was 18.
