The Searchers The hybrid move “The Searchers” shows both the aspects of a typical western and those of an innovative film. For me it was a relief, since I am not typically a fan of westerns I was glad to see that we did not have to watch one of those old black and white “showdown” movies. At first glance, this movie is nothing but a typical western “COWBOYS –VS- INDIANS” movie. All the icons are there; stagecoaches, horses, rifles, uneducated “texicans” and of course the hated Indians. It opens with a high open long shot of the west then comes to a small little ranch house.
