Irrèversible It took me more than half the entire film to fully comprehend what the story is all about. At the start of the film, a man is shown wearing cuffs and is being taken to prison. Then the same man goes inside a nasty pub, crazy as hell, looking for someone called Le Tenia. The guy’s name is Marcus, and he searches the entire place (called the Rectum—it’s a gay club) because he wants to break Le Tenia’s face. He finds the man he’s looking for, and then indeed breaks his face with a fire extinguisher. In the next scene he is shown acting like a bastard in a poor Chinese’s cab, and he is asking if the Chinese driver knew a gay club called the Rectum. It was only then that I understood that the scenes in the film are shown in reverse order.
