Life in the Balance Every single organism in nature depends on other living and dead organisms to sustain their own life. As a result of an apple tree’s existence, not only the apple tree is alive, but the organisms that require the oxygen from the tree due to aerobic respiration, are also being kept alive. In turn, the animals produce carbon dioxide, which is a required nutrient for plants. The example of the tree is only a small part in a very large environment of organisms depending on one another. A cycle is also formed through out the food chain of interdependence .
