news.bbc.co.uk Package holiday prices, which have fallen dramatically since the 11 September terrorist attacks, could fall further during January as Britain's beleaguered tourism industry struggles to entice people to travel. Discounts of as much as 25% and buy-one-get-one-free offers are already dominating the market. But experts say they expect further cuts during the post-Christmas drive to sell summer holidays. BBC2's Working Lunch spoke to four of the UK's biggest tour operators. Three of those said they were considering introducing bigger discounts on package holidays sold from January onwards. Eye on the market Thomson, which currently offers an average 40% off holidays, said it had left room for further price cuts from the New Year. Airtours, which is offering up to £100 off short haul trips and £300 off long haul, also said it would consider further discounts to fuel demand. Thomas Cook said it would offer 50% off many holidays from the New Year.
