Definitely, Austin Clarke¡¯s Canadian Experience is a tragic story. That is we do not really want it to happen. However, who or what should take the responsibility of the regrettable finale? For most immigrants, they will face how to deal with the things coming from two aspects. In other words, the most important thing to them is the effect of two cultures: the original and the new. That will concern their survival and development for the lifetime. How did our protagonist react that? Now, we take a look to see what happened. First of all, the principal character did not conform to the mainstream of Canadian culture very well. In other words, he did not completely understand that, even if he made some efforts to catch on it. We can illustrate that from several details in the story. He got a chance of interview. Nobody doubts a job is very important to him, especially in that kind of situation. How possible he can get the job successfully depends on himself, but the problem is he did not know himself very well. The advertisement of the position in our article, it mentioned two points of the candidate must have: a university degree and the relevant experience. And how about him? Author told us our protagonist is a person who only had secondary education in Barbados and did know bank at all.
