COMMUNICATION FLOW WITHIN AN ORGANIZATION Communication Flow within an Organization We are quite sure anyone who watches television has viewed the Verizon cell phone commercial where the actor is walking along and asking the question, “Can You Hear Me Now”. ... In this presentation our goal is to present to the readers actual situations that have occurred within organizations, where communication fails to reach the intended parties, and where the line of information tends to hit a dead end. We have been given tools to enhance our communication with others both verbally and electronically. ... Communication is an unavoidable task that we all perform. ... The team will give examples of how communication can be misconstrued and also ideas on how to prevent the situations from arising. “The degree of integrity, openness and overall communication skills of its people directly affects the organizations productivity and each individuals satisfaction and contribution.” Birmingham Business Journal, Dec 1, 2000 v17 i48 p19 Students taking on line courses will see the effects of proper communication and the importance of understanding the knowledge within their environment. We as students communicate all of our communication to our class mates via e-mail. ... There are many of us that do not see the bottom line in detail and for most of never hear anything negative or unproductive within our companies until it is too late. ... It is imperative that communication is not lost. ... When someone has to ask "what or why" it is normally because of a breakdown in communication or a misunderstanding of how something was presented. ... In our personal live our body language and verbal communication is very important. ... As we have previously explored in our reading assignments communication has many more sub categories that just being able to speak to someone. ... Proper communication can either assist you with becoming successful or it can cause you to have many misunderstanding and obstacles to overcome throughout your life. ... I have been through 3 layoffs during my professional career and through out all of them there was a serious lack in communication. ... We will try to determine the causes and possible solutions for these communication breakdowns and affects they have on the employees. In our analysis we will try to determine where the breakdown in communication occurred in each case and what could have been done to prevent miss communication throughout the organization. We will attempt to determine which party was responsible for the breakdown in communication and why they failed to get the message out. We will look at how the organization was effected as a whole, when the communication failed and the information was not passed on.
