Christianity Through a Study of Luke and Acts c) “Healing miracles do not happen today.” Do you agree? Give reasons to support your answer and show that you have though t about different points of view. You must refer to Christianity in your answer. I do not agree with the statement, “Healing miracles do not happen today” because there is strong evidence to prove otherwise. Many Christians also disagree with this statement and they prove this by going on Pilgrimages and attending healing services at Churches. Also, when Christians do go on Pilgrimages to Holy Places, there is strong scientific evidence to prove that miracles do happen there. At Lourdes there have been many recorded healings, which have been recognised not only by the Church but also by doctors as miraculous events. Many Christians do believe in miracles today because it is necessary for such events to comply with strict regulations to qualify them as a miracle. At Lourdes, there must be details of the patient’s original diagnosis to prove that they were actually ill before their Pilgrimage; however I do not think that many people would be likely to fake a miracle because the only person that they are deceiving is themselves.
