Employee Directory
... be able to either enter someone’s last name, first name, phone number, or department and then search for that person and find out all that information and their e-mail address. Someone from inside the Intranet, someone who works in the office with his or her password may also search for the same criteria and find the same results. The only users to see something differently then anyone else would be the managers and the administrator of the directory. Other information that will be stored to benefit the mangers of the company would be employee contacts outside of work such as home phone numbers and addresses. No one else has access to the personal information unless granted and given a password from the administrator. The administrator can also see everything and has access and the ability to update everyone’s information on a regular basis. As stated in the last paragraph, there will be only four user types. All the employees inside the company have their own login and the clients outside the company just sign on as a guest with their known password. Ultimately, there will be four types of potential users: one, the administrator, in charge of administrating the site; two, management positions that only managers and administrators have access to. The only difference between the two is that administrators are the only ones to actually change and update the information on the site. The third group would be employees of the inside company who could search for anyone in the company, and then the fourth group would be outside partners who need access to the information as well. Governing the directory, the administrator would have menu options such as: change phone number, change address, change home phone, change e-mail, change name, change last name, any of the data fields that need changed the administrator would have a command for. The administrator can also enter new employees and execute old employees. The administrator would set-up usernames and passwords for everyone outside and inside the company as well as managers to get into the site. Whenever someone signs on and gives their name and password the administrator has a program in which it keeps track of the log in users and what times they accessed the information for another security reason.
