...satisfaction with it, by the level of gratification it promises. Kant says everyone seeks this gratification but each person is different in the way they seek the gratification. Thus, this is why everyone desires different things. Each person is looking for a different form of gratification. Kant also refers to a pleasing or good object as an object that is gratifying. Gratification leads to satisfaction and visa versa. These things do not have to do with beauty in Kant’s perspective. Beauty has no invested interest and causes a direct, unaided, response in us. This is a very different way of viewing everyday things we encounter. I agree with Kant’s theories and can see the way in which they can apply to everyday activities. He also states that beauty does not have to serve a direct purpose. I also agree with this notion. I beautiful thing should just be beautiful in itself and without attachment to our selves. Kant refers to three specific different kinds of satisfaction which refer to the feeling of pleasure and pain. One is the “Pleasant” which gratifies a man, his needs, wants and desires. Second is the “Beautiful” which pleases a man immediately, without invested interest. Third is the “Good” which is held in high esteem to man because he labels it with some form of wor...
