Capitalism vs communism
...a diminished rate. I perceive a mixed economy to be the utmost form of government, but between capitalism and communism, capitalism is the better choice. There are many reasons why I believe this, one being that capitalism is the only moral system because it requires human beings to deal with one another as traders; free moral agents trading and selling goods and services on the basis of mutual consent. People actually have to involve themselves in their business, instead of letting the government do all the work. Consequentially, this leads to a more independent society, which is superior to a government controlled economy where people cannot thoroughly involve themselves or make decisions in the business world. Capitalism is also the only just system because the sole principal that determines the value of the thing exchanged is the universal judgement of the consumer, and not of the government. Another reason why Capitalism is the better government for the common man, probably the most imperative one, is that this is the only social system which rewards merit, ability, and achievement, while punishing vice, regardless of one’s birth status in life. As C. Bradley Thompson stated, “Yes, there are winners and losers in capitalism. The winners are those who are honest, industrious, thoughtful, prudent, frugal, responsible, disciplined, and efficient. The losers are those who are shiftless, lazy, imprudent, extravagant, negligent, impractical, and inefficient.” This applies to everyone in a Capitalist society, in one way or another, no matter what his or her social status is. Communism is quite the opposite, it does not merit virtue nor does it punish vice, consequentially leading to many people slacking off. This substantially effects the quality of the goods or services being produced, therefore deterring the economy from reaching its potential. Last but not least, Capitalism is a much better form of government than Communism, due to the tendency of corrupt Communist parties holding power. This can do exactly the opposite of what Communism strives to promote; the equality of all people. If the government officials are using the economy the promote the expansion of their own wealth, while exploiting the impoverished inhabitants of that country, that allows them to have a much better standard of life, contradicting the p...
