Tommy related a story that told of him and some of his friends in a park, and a car full of teenagers came after them yelling profanities, calling them names such as “faggot,” and throwing objects at them. This, however was not the worst of it, because the driver also tried to hit some of them with his car, and when the cops came, they didn’t care and treated them like trash. I feel that there is simply no excuse for this type of action, because people deserve to be treated with respect, with no regard to their sexual preferences, or for anything else that they could be discriminated for. One thing that I noticed that was particularly bad, was that when Tommy related this story, it didn’t seem as if there were any major problems with this situation, as if it were a common occurrence. Christi’s story, however, was not near as violent as Tommy’s, but it still held problems that were emotional, which can be as traumatizing as physical abuse.
