Novel Analysis of "Meg"

... (unmanned nautical information submersibles) to mesure seismic levels in the Marianas Trench, valuable to Japanese geologists who want to know when the next earthquake will be arriving. A problem happens and Jonas is called down to try to fix it. He is talked into going into the Trench with Masaos son, DJ, to fix the problem. To summarize, a Meg attacks DJ, gets caught into the cables and dies, a larger, pregnant female is eating the first megs' carcass, and is pulled to populated waters. Jonas barley makes it out alive, and decides to capture the meg because he thinks it is his fault DJ died. Next, the female Meg is a forty-thousand pound seventy-foot great white monster of a shark. It's teeth are about 7 inches long, and razor sharp. At one time, megaladons were real. Scientists have countless meg teeth to prove it. The Meg can be thought of as a formidible war machine, able to destroy entire ships in two monstrous bites; its' bite radius is approximatley 10-feet. It has eight sensory organs which can be used to detect electrical impulses from miles away. It can detect one part of blood, sweat, or uring in 40 billion parts or water. Its skin is like sandpaper, making it impossible to trap using ropes or seaweed. It eats around 10 tons a day. Needless to say, this monster eats alot. In the Marianas Trench, they didn't reveal in the book what it eats. In oxidated water, it ate whales. Now that the characters have been introduced, Jonas' conflict is two part; a psychological and a physical one. He believes he is responsible for the death of DJ and the unleashing of the meg, and capturing the meg. He felt the only way to end both of the problems was to capture the Meg. So the hunt begins. He starts by following the dead carcasses by helicopter. He gets a lead, but loses it for almost two weeks. Then, the Meg attacks some tourists. This is where Jonas drugs the Meg. Unknown to him, the Meg gave birth. The bad thing is, he wanted to capture the Meg to study it; it ate him whole while he was in his submarine, so he cut out its' heart using a tooth he had found. Luckily, someone caught one of the meg pups so he took that and put it in the worlds' largest man made lagoon. On the other hand, the Meg has quite a different challenge. She has to survive to stay alive. This is made difficult by none other than Jonas Taylor, who is hunting the Meg so he can use her as biological research. She just wants to eat whales and people, and make sure she rules the oceans of the world. She gives birth, she eats her offspring so they never surpass her. to her, the species doesn't matter. Only does she matter. She is the living war machine who is intended by nature to reign supreme among all living things. She is superior to all but her own kind, in which she is either dead or better than others. In the end, however, the human Jonas Taylor kills her after she accidently ate his submarine. All in all, it was a good novel, telling the tale ...
