But you look so good, intolerant differences
... Being paralyzed is the most know side effect of MS because it is the most visible. “That’s that thing that puts people in wheelchairs, right?” was the second most common response that was received when the survey was conducted. Three fourths of the people that are diagnosed with MS show know signs of paralysis yet people don’t seem to know what they are. Ignorance allows society to judge without them knowing why. Tiredness is the most common side effect of MS and effects people from mildly to severely. Being tired seems like something that everyone experiences. There is a difference between being tired as most of society is at some point in his or her lives to being tired, as someone with MS would be tired. People who suffer from MS have to think about walking and not tripping or falling over the most miniscule of things. Walking up a half a flight of stairs can tire the healthiest of people with MS. Also fear of tripping up or down stairs can have a tiring effect on people with MS. The tiredness can lead to legs collapsing and people falling, potentially hurting them. Working and the ability to function normally as the rest of society does is also something that is criticized. Most people with MS are happy doing things that others take for granted in society. People with MS do get tired more easily and because of that can not take on as much as someone without MS can. Person I works full time, which is something that a lot of people with MS can’t do. At her company she has been moved from her original position to more of an office job. Employees that she works with accuse her of not being able to do her job and they have to pick up her slack. Person I is doing exactly what she is supposed to and as much as she can. Person B has to take a nap every day in order to function accordingly. People, she thinks, regard hr as lazy because she takes a nap everyday. Everyone wishes that they could take a nap everyday but some need to take naps everyday. To these people it is seen as an inconvenience and something that they have to do in order to take care of themselves. Person K has grown children who think that she should be able to do all of the things that she used to be able to do. She thinks that sometimes they forget she is sick and become insensitive. There are people with MS who are on disability because they are not able to make it through a day of work. When person G was in high school she entered a special program where she did not have to go to school all day. She was not able to make it through a full day of school and kids always said how lucky she was. They never understood that this was something that she had to do, not something that she wanted to do. Parking in handicap spots is also something that society does not act accordingly to. People who park in handicap spots who look perfectly find are often ridiculed for their actions. There are many people in society that take elevators or park in handicap spots because they are lazy. Unfortunately there are many people in society that look good and are not lazy. Sometimes people who need to park handicap spots do not because they do not want the ridicule of society. Person C has a handicap card, which she should use to save energy, especially when it is hot outside. There is no reason that person C should not use her handicap card yet, person C does not use her handicap card because of feeling of guilt. Person C is handicap but there is no physical outward sign of her disability, she looks good. Person C, if approached by someone by about parking in a handicap spot, is able to take a lighter side and respond by saying she parks in a handicap spot because she “has a hip problem due to sex with her husband.” Person D had someone come up to his car and say “You have got to be kidding me.” Person F was once told that there were cops outside and that she was going to get a ticket because she was parked in a handicap spot. She also showed no outward physical signs of a disability. Person C, D, and persona F are lucky compared to others in the same situation, parking in a handicap spot but looking good. Person J parked in a handicap spot yet he showed not physical disability. Person J had people in the store in which he was in harassing him to the point where he had to call the police. This is because he parked in a handicap spot and according to society he does not show signs of physical handicap. Laziness is an act of deviance in society. People who are lazy are not productive members of society and therefore drain society of its resources. People who park in handicap and appear not to need them are seen as deviant, like they are some how breaking the law because you cannot physically see anything wr...
