Rifkin "End of Work"

...hink of what my first idea for a job was with my math degree I get worried after this book. I was thinking about being an actuary. An actuary sets insurance premiums. That could eventually easily be replaced with a machine, when technology gets that far. As it is right now I believe it is just a human that is assisting a machine. So I feel the need to put more research into what is going to happen to that specific career. I do not want to get out of college and find out that I cannot get a job. Or worse get a job and then couples years later get laid off. The mentioned a company named Siemens over in Germany who had a big downsizing. My dad was actually laid off by that company a few years back. A lot of people my dad’s ages are getting laid off and/or forced into early retirement. They want to bring in the new kinds out of college who they can pay less. My dad is an electrical engineer. I suppose that is an ever-changing job that requires people with the newest background education. But ten years after I start my job is that going to happen to me?
