It would be more relevant to say that, people now a days are looking for small pieces of factual information, rather than to blame contemporary technology for making available the fragmented information. There are more people in this world who, when presented with a book, look at the index first rather than reading through the preface. People who try to understand what a book is all about read the preface first; on the other hand, those looking for specific information jump into the index, probably even without reading the title. Though every activity should start with an objective, the analysis which is done to achieve the object should atleast emcompass a subjective perspective. But people's thought processes are so narrow that their day begins with a search for fragments they are interested in. This further narrows down the thought process. If the thought process itself is narrow, there is no room for thinking beyond what they perceive. So, there is no question of technology playing a role in widening or narrowing one's perspectives.
