Basically, he was saying that he didn’t like the idea but maybe it would turn the families’ hate into love. When Romeo was banished from Verona, Juliet had no clue what she should do. Her father was forcing her to marry Paris, and she wanted nothing to do with him. So whom does she run to when her nurse doesn’t tell her what she wants to hear? Good ol’ Friar Laurence. Friar Laurence cooks up a stupid plan where Juliet fakes her death and then while she’s in the tomb meets Romeo. There were a couple problems with this plan: 1. It was too complicated 2. It was too rushed; they hadn’t even worked out any details. “‘Hold then, go home be merry, give consent/To marry Paris. Wednesday is to-morrow; To-morrow …’” (4, 1, 89-120). Friar Laurence’s whole plan made no sense, she could have just as easily ran away or done something else that was less complicated.
