The project conducted two sealed missions. The first mission was from September 26, 1991 to September 26, 1993. The second mission was for six months in the year 1994. The first mission had some down fall. The oxygen and carbon dioxide had fell. Many supplies including oxygen were provided, and the project lost much credibility. During the two year period in which Biosphere II was sealed, the biospherians produced a extremely high percent yield crops. Species unintentionally brought into Biosphere II thrived while others who had their Biosphere surroundings designed specifically for them did not survive. Most scientists had very positive things to say about the idea of the Biosphere 2. Dr. David Williams said, "We'll be breaking new botanical ground here.
