It is an irrational and rigid generalization about a specific group of people. Prejudice is often confused with discrimination, although they really are two different things. Discrimination is the action of treating categories of people unequally. There are also two different types of discrimination: Attitudinal and institutional. Attitudinal discrimination stems from prejudice, whereas institutional discrimination comes from the rules of a certain institution and is not coming from a single person, nor does it stem from prejudice. As stated earlier, each term has its own definition, but all the terms are related to each other. Stereotypes can contain prejudices, prejudice can lead to discrimination at an attitudinal level, and discrimination can evolve from stereotypes.
