... I had to guess, I would say it is Richardsonian Romanesque. This style was named after and made popular by Henry Hobson Richardson. The characteristics of this style are: massive stonewalls, dramatic semicircular arches, unusual sculptured shapes, different texture of stones and short robust columns. Sumner has many of these characteristics such as the mass stonewalls, different texture of stones, short robust columns and dramatic semicircular arches. They also have amazing windows features. From the picture of the school before it was torn down it looks like the structure was made out of stone and clay. There were many changes to Sumner, but the biggest change is when they torn down the whole school except for the school’s gymnasium. They have redone the classrooms.
