...aisle there was something in the “Low Carb” category. Even when I visited Burger King A.K.A grease palace, I saw a low carb burger or the “Angus Burger.” This summer I worked at my dad’s Blimpie- a sub and salad shop and observed that the typical customer wasn’t obese or overweight, just compelled to do what everybody what was doing- i.e. eating healthy food. Even though I see everybody follow this pattern of eating, I don’t see the necessity to do so. Air, water and food are the three most essential supplies required for survival. Even though we think that we can survive without food for a week, I don’t think that it is possible for more than a couple of days. I ensure you that desire and not hunger will drive you crazy if you “fast” for too long. Food has many functions. The basic one to provide nutrition to the body and help it do its day to day activities. It also serves other purposes. It provides emotional support and can also add that extra weight if overeaten. There are different kinds of food. Each one of them has a specific purpose. People have different purposes for their food. For me eating spicy food is like being adventurous. You have to be brave enough to eat spicy food. Spicy food kind of dares you, to take the next bite even though your mouth is on fire. Sweet food kind of calms you down, tell you to relax. Water or any other beverage for that matter cools you down and extinguishes thirst. I like all kinds of food. You name it and I probably like it. I will try anything at least once. I think my favorite kind of food is junk food. Not only does it taste good, but I don’t get much of it. So whenever I get the opportunity to gulp some grease I do so. Junk food includes burgers, fries, pizza, steak, chicken and anything that I don’t eat too often. It may not be healthy for me, but you can’t get everything you want. The problem is choice. You have to let go of something to get something. In this case I choose taste over health. I also have a sweet tooth. I love chocolate and anything that’s sweet. I like ice-cream, sweets, candy, pies, and cakes whenever I am sad or lonely (this doesn’t happen too often), I eat sweets. The taste of chocolate melting in my mouth just gets rid of the tension and makes me forget my problems, even if it is only for a couple of minutes. When I was a little kid I remember going to ball games and having a lot of fun. I remember the home runs, the fans shouting, but most importantly I remember the food. Hot dogs and a cola. The way things are going right now is that going to be traditional ball park food in the future? Probably not. You could see “diet chili dogs” being served with health juice. It would be pretty unusual wouldn’t it? Guess baseball is not the same without hot dogs. I also love Indian food since I was born and raised in India.
