... where students were taught math vocabulary and phonics skills was viewed with some scepticism because educators did not have a clear understanding of how computers could be integrated in to the teaching core or hoe to mark the effectiveness of computerised work done by students. So therefore computers where viewed as a extra –curricular activity used as a reward for good work or finishing work quickly. With the evolution of the internet this quickly changed students were now able to access information over a lager scale and complete work at a faster rate teachers were impressed by the standard of work by some students. Students were now able to communicate to one another over a world wide base helping one another and sharing information with each other, the internet gave students a real world experience that stimulated their and refined their problem solving, reasoning, critical thinking and communication skills. Teachers now guide there students through experiences and give them the skill they need to begin a life long process of learning. Teaching through real world experiences and multimedia are much more enjoyable for students and take advantage of student’s natural curiosity to learn by them selves most students would rather learn from conversation with experts, the internet, or a multimedia encyclopaedia with bright coloured pictures, animation and sound rather than an old black and white text book. Using the internet students can truly construct knowledge using a verity of sources they can visit sites from around the world, email experts, ask question on newsgroups, download graphics form the web and evaluate the credibility of the source of information and after the check there information they can put into a report or presentation. Despite the attractive advantage of a virtual classroom some students may not do well in this type of environment. Some students who rely on intimate relationships and learning in a social environment may have difficulty if all instruction is delivered by a virtual book especially very young children, they may not develop the very important interpersonal skills they need to function in society today. There are some fears that students will not develop the same interpersonal skills that they would if taught in traditional classroom, however they may develop other important communication skills for example need to learn how to communicate...
