satire--A Typical Day in the Life of a High School Student
...u are at school. She slid into her seat just before the bell rang and got out the homework that she had done the night before. It was three pages of graphing and equations and along with all the assignments from other classes she had to miss her great grandmothers birthday party to get it all done. It was worth it though because it was definitely something she would need to know for the rest of her life. You know, like when you are older you might have to graph a linear equation possible involving inequalities or the quadratic formula to show that you can be successful or a contributing member of a family. Or even worse, she would get a zero for the assignment grade. After fifty minutes of mathematics without once wondering why someone would devote their life to thinking up difficult ways to find numbers, the bell rings and Tricia heads to her next class. The requirement for this year is World History. History was never her best subject, but she took the AP class anyway. She knows the importance of getting into a good college and if learning about the past was going to decide her future then she was going to do it. I mean its not like she wanted a life during the school year anyway. She continues through her day, simply going through the motions by now. Finally, it is lunchtime. She walks into the cafeteria and spots her group of friends. It was not a hard task considering they all look exactly the same as their bleach blonde hair tied up in spunky little ponytails reveals an array of colored shirts, some with popped collars, accompanied by a Vera Bradley backpack. However they try to avoid stereotypes and occasionally have intellectual conversation. You could find them talking about anything from fashion in America to poverty in Africa, from the new gossip from the weekend to the new ideas discussed in the presidential debates or doing anything from shopping at the mall to petitioning the use of child labor and sweatshops, or volunteering at the zoo while wearing lip stick and make up that was most likely tested on animals. After this all too brief lunch break she heads to her afternoon classes. At 2:45 the final bell rings and Tricia packs up her things for the day, stops by her locker and heads ...
