He also saw it as maximizing the use of scarce resources to their fullest potential. Xenephon believed that you must be able to maximize your resources, which will result in a positive feed back in every other part of society. Colander sums this all up by saying societies and individuals maximize their needs and wants with their necessities. Christensen’s view is a more naturalistic view. This is where things exist for a reason to help and support something else. He bases his criticisms on Aristotle, Hobbes, and many other not so influential scholars of the past. These natural veiws of economics are based on little things interact with other little things to form one big thing and back to the small things. Also in nature you can explain some things based on emotions, when humans want to satisfy their needs and create something that will help those needs. Energy is used to describe the natural outlook on econmics. We use energy as humans, and we need to supply these needs. We can do this by eating, and by eating it gives us the energy to get work done. Work such as creating more food to have extra energy and then usuing out extra energy to accomplish other goals such as making it easier to make or gather food. By doing this humans have extra time to spend doing other necessities of life. This will lead to more technology and will advance the economy. We can see that both of these economists need technology advances to better the economy. However they do not approach this the same way. They agree on the technological side of the economy, but Colander bases his on society, while Christensen bases his more on natural necessity. The differences here are that Co...
