My Utopia

This would teach the kids that they were respected enough to make their own decisions, teach them self-discipline, and cooperation all at the same time. Grade levels would not exist and older students would help the younger ones with any challenges they encountered. This is more similar to reality and the experiences that kids would encounter outside of school so this system would promote not only a spirit of helping each other, but also decrease competition between ages. I think that young students should interact with other children of different ethnicity and cultures to broaden the child’s spectrum before harmful prejudices were formed. By working closely with different students they would be made aware not only of their differences and ways of life, but also of their similarities. The prejudice that is formed because of fear and a lack of knowledge would be lessened with this new understanding. The justice system in my utopia would be based not on punishment, but one of restitution of their crimes to those affected by them. The people found guilty of their crimes would receive counseling to help them, but also by making helping make right the wrong they committed they would be welcomed back into society. In some cases when a crime is so horrible that it cannot be forgiven, the person guilty of the crime would continually work to understand the severity and impact of their actions while helping others. In cases where the crime was large there would be some kind of punishment that could vary from situation to situation so that the best suitable solution could be found. Although I understand the people who believe that one religion or way of thinking was practiced or accepted, in my society I would like to have a few main religions. This is because I believe that all people should have the freedom to choose to follow whatever beliefs appeal to them. Also, if there was only one religion people would grow stagnant in their spiritual growth because their religious practice and faith would exist for some only because it was the accepted norm. If however, there were a few main religions people would constantly question their own and others beliefs and would for the most part fully understand and live their religion. This would not be possible if people were not tolerant so I believe that there should be some way of educating people about the others’ differences. I do however believe that conflict is a good thing in my perfect society. Without conflict there is no change and I believe that as long as the conflict or discussion was done in an agreed upon manner where it was done fairly and with respect of the other party intact it would be a positive asset.
