...ries the Enuma Elish, Rig Veda, Popol Voh and Old Testament were all written in different times and places in history. Yet, every story has a parallel to another. The common theme among the ancient stories are multiple gods, man being created as an after thought or final touch, as well as the idea of being made from a god or gods. The Popol Voh as well as the Old Testament refers to more than one god as man’s fashioner. The Popol Voh, a Mayan creation story written in the first millennium continuously refers to the creator and the maker as if they are two separate entities. As they create both animals and the “tree people” the story continues to use plural terms such as “us,” “we,” and “they.” The Old Testament: a story which is widely known, renowned, and considered the true creation story gives notion to more than one god as well. “Then God said let us make humankind in our image, according to our likeness ….”(Creation: Genesis, 45).
