Does gun control really solve problems with firearm related deaths?

Owning a firearm doesn’t mean that you will use it for self defense; in fact most owners use guns for hunting. Overall guns are a part of our history. Many hold a sentimental value and have been passed down from generation to generation. Teaching children about proper firearm usage and safety is also positive factor about owning a gun. If children are educated about the safety and correct usage of a firearm, they will grow up with an understanding of what weapons are for. As a result they will hopefully know to never misuse a gun. On the other hand weapons become dangerous when they are in the wrong hands. The solution to firearms is instruction and education. When children obtain guns from their father’s sock drawer, and they haven’t been told what they are for, and how to use them safely, that is when problems arise. If children view it as a toy or they believe they are strong because of the weapon they garnish, incidents may arise such as Columbine. Columbine did not happen purely because the teenagers did not know weapon safety but because of issues within themselves or their family. Children need to be raised with good morals and respect for others so they are able to overcome dilemmas in the world. Parents need to keep track of their offspring and play a role in their lives. If these actions are taken by parents, expectantly it should alleviate some emotional issue. If these evils are not improved by good morals, dignity and respect the family should be there to help their child overcome any emotional problems that they may have. In America the federal government has a small amount of authority over interstate prohibition of firearms. Mostly states and the local governments have responsibility for gun control. With this arrangement, a large portion of regulations are left unsupervised. At the beginning of 1994 the U.S. had a population of 260,000,000. There were 222 million firearms in citizen’s possession, and 76 million of those weapons were handguns. During this year there were 9.3 homicides for ever 100,000 people in the U.S. and 6.4 of those 9.3 were firearm homicides.
