The builder would work hard constructing a massive bridge made out of reeds. This tedious labor was crucial to the Incan society since they lived in the mountains, and just one mistake could kill many. In fact, they were so worried about a bridge collapsing, that they remade them every few years. Other occupations might have included farmers or governmental positions. The labor tax forced everyone in the community to work on the community, so things such as roads were possible to build. The Incans were a peace loving civilization, but when their religious beliefs were threatened, they would fight to defend themselves.
